Hi, friends, and happy Thursday. It feels good to be back in this space again after a few weeks away. I’ve missed writing to you!1

Recently, I’ve been walking alongside a few friends and family members who are navigating various challenges. Being able and available to help is a gift I’m grateful for. At the same time, witnessing the struggles of people I love can feel heavy. This season is another opportunity to remember that I can hold two things at once: the gravity, and the gift.

When I wasn’t able to finish writing this letter for you two weeks ago, a friend reminded me that I shouldn’t expect a writing rhythm that worked in a lighter season to continue working in this current one.

“Sometimes we’re trying to build a writing rhythm for a life that we’re not actually living,” she said.2

I sat with her words for a while, and here’s what emerged: what if I’ve also been trying to hold fast to a rhythm of life that doesn’t fit the one I’m actually living?
